Department of Health NSQHS eLearning Resources

Use of Resources

The eLearning resources have been developed by Cabrini Health and funded by the Victorian Department of Health. The Department is making these resources freely available on the Internet for health services to use and adapt to meet the National Safety and Quality Health Services (NSQHS) Standards developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC). Each health service is responsible for all decisions on how to use these resources at its health service and for any changes to the resources. Health services should review the resources with respect to the local regulatory framework, processes and training requirements.

eLearning modules and Support Tools

All of the eLearning modules and support tools can be accessed from the following websites:

eLearning modules

The learning modules are in three formats:

Support tools

Tools to support the eLearning modules can be found on the Department of Health website at http://www.health.vic.gov.au/accreditation/online-education-modules.htm  These include:

  • Key messages and responsibilities for clinicians: One page summaries for each standard (MS Word).
  • Marketing tools: PowerPoint presentations for managers and clinicians to market the standards to staff (PPT).
  • Clinical competency tools: Competency ratings for some procedures and processes (MS Word).
  • Mapping and gap analysis tools: For medical and other health service staff (Excel).

Important Instructions - Please Read Before Downloading eLearning Modules

The eLearning modules are provided in three formats.

1. MS Word format

Files in this format can be downloaded directly to your computer. These documents are editable therefore they can modified to suit to your organisation's specific needs. These files are accessible from he Department of Health website at http://www.health.vic.gov.au/accreditation/online-education-modules.htm

2. Web (HTML) Format

If you want staff to access your course via the Internet or an intranet, and if you don't need to track their completion or progress, then these files are for you. These files are in ZIP format. ZIP files are compressed data containers - they store one or several files in the compressed form. Instructions for opening and unpacking a ZIP file are provided below. Once a ZIP file in unpacked, click the story.html associated with each course to play the respective course.

3. Learning Management System (LMS) Format (SCORM 1.2)

If your organisation uses a learning management system (LMS) to deploy e-learning content, then you should download these files. An LMS tracks staff progress with and completion of online courses. These files only work on a SCORM-compliant LMS - they will not work on the standard personal computer. It is best an experienced LMS Manager download and unpack these files.

PLEASE NOTE: None of these file formats allow you to complete a module live on this website. The 'Web' and 'LMS' versions need to be downloaded and installed properly if you want a live version of a course.
